Ooh, mail call and Rotation update.

I just got a HUGE envelope in the mail!  Seriously, it was ginormous!  I know that's not a word but it gets the point across!  hehehe

I had placed an order with The Stencil Company for some quilting stencils.  I have to say that they were great to deal with!

One of the stencils that I wanted was on back-order and they emailed me promptly to let me know and to give me options on how I wanted to proceed...I decided to wait for them all together.

I got a bunch of 5" stencils for a Christmas quilt top so that now I can work on quilting it.  The quilt is 10 blocks x 10 blocks and I got 12 different stencils so that there will be a bit more randomness in the finished quilt.  The stencils that I got for this quilt are:
  • Angel
  • Bells/Holly
  • Candy Canes
  • Holly Berry
  • Ornament #2
  • Ornament #3
  • Poinsettia
  • Santa
  • Snowflake #3
  • Snowflake #4
  • Snowman
  • Continuous Holly
For the borders, I got a 6" star border stencil.

I also bought two stencils for a Bullseye quilt top that I have.  The borders will be done in a continuous loop pattern and the bulk of the quilt top will have a rose stipple pattern.

I was planning to start on the Christmas quilt as soon as I finish the String Block quilt I'm so close to being done with.  Now I'm thinking that I'll do the Bullseye quilt first since it's more of a lap quilt/wallhanging size.  The Christmas quilt is quite large - I think it's about 120" square.

Rotation update:

The Randomizer app I have chose La Belle Dame Sans Merci from HAED as my next project.  I made a start on it last night.  Now I'm on page 9 of the pattern which puts me on the first page of the second row!  That bright spot by the horse's head is near the bottom of this page.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Well, not really.  Hubby made me take down all the decorations back on the 1st.

I am making progress on Christmas stitching though!  I had the Santa finish a few days ago and now I've completed another day on the 12 Days of Christmas!  Day 8 is now done!

I have no idea why, but this particular day stitched up so much more quickly than any of the others.  I guess I shouldn't question it, I should revel in it!

Here's a picture of the project so far (Days 1-3 are rolled up at the top):

A finished finish...

"I'm not repeating myself, I'm not repeating myself.  Oh [no], I'm repeating myself."

Brownie points to anyone who recognizes the slightly edited movie quote.  ;-)

Anyway, a finished finish means that a finished piece of stitchery is also Framed!  Woo hoo!  It is my SAL piece from the 2013 HAED BB.  Unfortunately, they aren't doing a SAL for 2014 but this one was fun.

Drumroll please...

Here is the finished/framed piece:

The frame and mat are from PictureFrames.com.  The frame is an unfinished wood frame that I painted with black and silver metallic acrylic paints that I mixed together.  The mat color is a dark green called Black Watch.

The unfinished frame was a really good sale price so I got another one for my QS Hummingbird.  I want to paint that frame before I use it but I don't currently have any green acrylic paint so I need to get some.  Shopping!!  Yee Haw!!

First finish of 2014!

I have to say that I have definitely finished this one in plenty of time.  It's a St. Nick and is my first finish of 2014!  He won't be getting a frame any time soon, 'cause he's one of a pair.  I want to make sure that I get matching frames so I'll wait until I finish his buddy.

He is Bonhomme Noël and is from the Leisure Arts leaflet, Checking it Twice.

Since he is one of two designs, I chose to actually complete him as one unit in my rotation.  Next up, I'll be back on my focus piece 12 Days of Christmas by Teresa Wentzler.  This time, I'll be working on Day 8.

I won!

Every Christmas, Heaven and Earth Designs offers raffle tickets for a drawing on their site.  I won it this year!!

For those who are curious, I bought two tickets at $2 each.  I purchase just two every year.

As the winner, I get one chart of my own choosing, each month all year long.  I've already chosen my January chart.  Here's what I got:

Isn't this adorable!  It's not small though.  The stitch count is 400w x 500h!

I can hardly wait for February to choose another chart!

Stash Clean Out!

Well, it wasn't one of my stitching New Year's resolutions, but I just did a major de-stashing (is that a word?) of my cross stitch stuff.  I probably didn't get rid of all that I should have but like Gollum, "It's my Precious!".

Anyway, 30 "Preciouses" have been listed in my Etsy Shop, XedStitches.  Hopefully, they'll all find new, loving homes!

Happy Stitching!
